Donning Sterile GlovesSterile gloves are going to be used in countless sterile procedures. Thus, understanding how to apply sterile gloves is important since it will help reduce the risk of transmission of pathogens.

Step One:Perform hand hygiene.
Step Five:Holding the glove by the cuff, pull the glove over your hand. If any adjustments need to be made, you may only touch the inside of the gloves in order to adhere to sterile technique.

Step Two:Open the packaging to the gloves. Take the inner package and place it on a flat surface above waist level.
Step Six:Take your gloved left hand and tuck it into the cuff of the right glove. Pull the glove over your hand.

Step Three:Open the inner packaging using only the outer edges until the gloves are visible |
Step Four:Pick up the left glove by the cuff using your right hand. |
Note: When you are not using your gloved
hands, keep your hands in a clasped position
above waist level to adhere to sterile technique.
